Sector Assessments - EU Sector Guide

CPS closely follows political and legal developments, providing SWOT analysis and daily updates on the EU Acquis across key sectors. When changes in our clients' sectors are proposed we are ready to intervene as early as the policy-making stage. CPS' primary services in this area include:

  • Track EU policies and general principles across specific sectors;
  • Analyze the EU Acquis Communautaire in related sectors and fields;
  • Closely monitor changing EU laws;
  • Monitor Sectoral Targets in the Accession Partnership document;
  • Assess impact of the EU Acquis Communautaire on Turkish Sectors.

Early Warning Mechanism

CPS, with its well-established early warning mechanism, informs the related sectors at the early stage of the establishment of policies, so that these can be absorbed into the company strategy.

Within that outline, alternative positions by the other candidate states during the negotiations, the progress of foreign investment in the period of negotiations and accession are evaluated and necessary strategies are suggested as a part of the early warning mechanism.

Monitoring of the Negotiating Process

The launch of accession negotiations between Turkey and the EU has commenced with technical meetings and a harmonization period.

CPS tracks the agenda of this harmonization process. We enable companies and sectors to prepare for the harmonization and reflect the views and interests of the companies and sectors within inter-institutional EU-Turkish meetings.

Crisis Management

Most problems faced by international institutions are caused by conflicts with public authorities. When a crisis is not handled properly from the outset, organizations may find themselves spending more time fixing the damage caused by the crisis rather than solving the original problem. The 'problem' derives most often from the lack of information, miscommunication and misunderstanding of technical aspects of the process.

Good crisis management requires anticipation and preparation long before a crisis occurs. CPS recommends a crisis management program for all of its clients as any organization can face an unexpected crisis. Responding timely and accurately to such a crisis can have a great impact on an organization's reputation.

CPS, with its network of offices in three countries, assists clients in managing issues and crises at national as well as pan-European and pan-American levels. The experienced CPS team helps clients to comprehend what can be done before, during and after the crisis to make sure that the organization is not negatively affected. CPS also develops campaigns and prepares for their implementation with a wide range of potential allies.
